Environment secrets management your team can trust
Keep every project organized, give developers only the access they need, and preserve a complete history of sensitive actions.
Encrypted by design
Every environment gets its own data encryption key. Secret names and values are protected with authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption.
Access that matches your team
Grant Read, Read + Write, Admin or No Access independently for Development, Staging, Preview and Production.
Know who changed what
Track the actor, environment, action and version for every sensitive operation — without putting plaintext secrets in audit logs.
Import .env in seconds
Drop, paste, preview and resolve conflicts before anything changes. Export only when you explicitly ask for it.
Keep environments separated
Production stays protected from everyday development access with isolated encryption keys and backend-enforced policies.
Restore with confidence
Immutable version history lets teams inspect change metadata and restore an earlier secret as a new version.
Frequently asked questions
How are environment variables encrypted?
Each environment holds its own 256-bit data encryption key, which is itself wrapped by a key encryption key held outside the database. Secret keys and values are sealed together with AES-256-GCM, so tampered ciphertext fails to decrypt rather than returning wrong data.
Can I control who sees production secrets?
Yes. Permissions are set per environment, not per project, so a developer can have Read + Write on Development and no access at all to Production. Every request is checked by the API — hiding controls in the interface is never the mechanism.
Can I import an existing .env file?
Upload, drag and drop, or paste the file. EnvKavach shows a preview of every variable it detected, flags conflicts with existing secrets, and lets you replace or skip each one before anything is written.
Is there a record of changes?
Every create, edit, delete, import, reveal, export and restore is recorded with the actor, environment, target and timestamp. Audit entries never contain secret values.
